Furniture and Wooden Implements
Parts of the furniture collection
Furniture and wooden implements are made of organic
materials and are thus subject to aging in a variety of ways. For
instance, their reaction to their immediate environment is very direct, and
excessive light and extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity thus cause
them irreparable mechanical and optic damage. Poor environmental
conditions are also responsible for damage by mould and insects. The proper maintenance of
what are in some cases very large objects and the preservation of their
material integrity thus constitute the central concerns of this area.
